π Why Our Medical Evacuation is Different
The Evacuation Advantage - Why AirMed Matters
Scenario: Serious injury in Costa Rica requiring evacuation
Scenario | With Expat Guard | Without "Choose Your Hospital" |
---|---|---|
Hospital Destination | YOUR choice of hospital in US/Canada | Nearest "adequate facility" (likely Miami) |
Medical Necessity | NO - stable enough to fly = eligible | Insurance company decides if "necessary" |
Type of Transport | Private medical jet OR commercial with medical escort | Commercial flight only when available |
Family Accompaniment | Family flies FREE on same aircraft | Family must buy own ticket + hotels |
Service Level | Bedside-to-bedside (ground ambulance both ends) | Airport-to-airport only |
Number of Transports | 2 per year | Often limited to one per lifetime |
Real Example: The Difference It Makes
With Expat Guard
- β Stabilization in Costa Rica covered (after deductible)
- β YOU choose evacuation to YOUR home hospital in Denver
- β Private medical jet arranged
- β Your spouse flies FREE on same aircraft
- β Ground ambulance both ends included
- β Fully covered (unlimited benefit)
- Result: Home with your doctors & support system
!Without "Choose Your Hospital"
- β Stabilization covered (after deductible)
- β Insurance company sends you to Miami (their choice)
- β Commercial flight if space available
- β Spouse pays own airfare + hotels in Miami
- β Taxi/ambulance costs separate
- β Subject to policy limits ($500K-$1M typical)
- Result: Stranded far from home
"They'll strand you in Miami. We'll fly you home to Denver."
This is the Expat Guard difference.
